For years, I thought my acne was just bad luck. I believed the beauty industry’s promise that the right cleanser, serum, or mask would eventually “fix” me. I cycled through drugstore cleansers, expensive luxury brands, prescriptions, and even trendy Korean 10-step routines, birth control and I considered Accutane too (thankfully I didn’t fall for this). Each time I told myself, this will be the one. But no matter what I tried, the breakouts always came back — often worse than before. It wasn’t until I stopped obsessing over my bathroom cabinet and started learning how deeply hormones influence the skin that everything finally clicked.

If you’ve been battling stubborn acne that doesn’t respond to skincare, facials, antibiotics, or even Accutane, chances are high the real culprit is hidden hormone imbalance, and simple tips and tricks won’t help you. And the most frustrating part? Almost no dermatologist or esthetician will tell you this. Instead, women are told to keep buying stronger creams, harsher exfoliants, start tretinoin, preach that such a thing as a “purge” exists (it doesn’t), or even to “just go on birth control” — while the actual root causes continue to simmer under the surface. Because guess what? Dermatologists and aestheticians are not trained in root cause acne treatment, they are trained in the topical side of things, which in more cases doesn’t work for stubborn acne.

Today, I want to share the four most common hormone imbalances that drive persistent acne — how to recognise them in your body, why they show up on your skin, and why ignoring them only leads to more frustration and wasted time.

But first… Real talk.

This whole substack thing feels way more intimate than social media. Private group chats where I can say all the controversial, non gatekeeping, clear skin thoughts I maybe can’t or choose not to post online. It’s slower, more thoughtful than the 8 second Instagram reels, and more of a scoop inside my brain and my daily routines that have kept my skin clear for…4 years now?

It’s also a place where people who aren’t ready to fully commit to my Clear Skin Academy can join and ask questions and read the things I wouldn’t post on my social media.

So if you’ve ever been curious about my work, you want to pick my brain, get more exclusive content or just read some of the best advice I have for clearer skin, better health, favourite juice recipes, meals I’ve been having, daily routines and more… come join us.
